I love that you are writing about Calvin and Hobbs and it's impact on other comics like Lio and how comic authors can survive their legacy with book publications. Another aspect you could touch on is that Calvin has ADHD and how his parents don't embrace him and his imagination. The comic captures the mental health struggles of boys with ADHD in a way that is not insulting like Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

The comic itself could be a apart of specail needs literature curriculum along with Peanuts, Lio, Astro Boy, Harry Potter, and Fred Rogers work. Hobbs is Calvin's therapist because he lives in a world where his talents and ideas are not appreciated. I was a kid that was forced to read Flowers for Algernon which is a terrible book for a specail education person to read. I have Aspbergers and I'm working on my own comic loosly based on Hindrich Hoffman's Der Struwwelpeter considered the first mass printed comic book.
