I agree with you because most of the time film critics and their circles are dominated by white cis-men who don't understand media studies or the history in film in general. Even those that claim they do still are out of touch with younger and younger demographics. Oscar Judges and Directors like Steven Spielberg aka The Greedy Genial with Gold Statues...Don't want to admit Hollywood is ableist, homophobic, xenophobic, and racist when it clearly is. Please check out Peter Dinklage's reaction to the re-make of Snow White and you'll see what I mean.
