Here is my issue with this article, what music theory are you talking about because different cultures have different ways of expressing and making music without traditional theory like the kind classical and jazz students are taught. Alpine cultures do not need Do Re Mi because syllables in jodeling already accomplish that along with India's Raga system of scales. There is a reason why people say music theory and the way it's taught is racist, xenophobic, and ablest because cultures call it different things with the same concepts of musical understanding. You do not have to express music with notes and a staff, it's good to learn how to read music but playing and expressing notes requires something deeper and thoughtful, it requires a emotion and a humanity.
